Receiving Christmas cards, any Christmas cards, adds joy to the holiday spirit, no doubt about that. Small cards or large cards, elaborate cards or simple cards — they all tell us that someone has been thinking about us and then following up with a heartfelt message and greetings for the Christmas holiday season.

But there is something extraordinarily special about the Christmas cards which were handmade by a family member, a friend, a colleague or a good neighbor. They, after all, are the fruits of somebody’s labor or love.  Besides, they are unique and each one of them is one of a kind.

On top of the joy, those handmade Christmas cards add an extra touch of the personal, the non-commercial aspect personalization. Handmade Christmas cards have the fingerprints, heartprints and mindprints of their makers and I cherish them ever so much more.

Do you need some ideas for your handmade Christmas cards? I can help you right here and right now.

Idea No. 1:

• Take a red card stock sheet and fold it in half.
• Take a piece of white card stock paper and, using zigzag scissors, cut it somewhat smaller than the folded red sheet.
• Cut out holly leaves from green colored paper.
• Swirl red wire to form the holly berries.
• Now, with the fold of the red card facing upwards, paste the zigzag edged white sheet.
• On top of that, arrange the holly leaves and berries.
• Open the card and write your message.
• Pass it on to a love one and watch their faces light up.

Idea No. 2:

• Take a light gray card stock sheet and fold it in half.
• With the fold on your left hand side, paint a blue sky.
• Cut a large, a medium and a small circle out of white card stock paper.
• Paste the large circle close to the bottom of the card.
• Paste the medium circle above the large circle.
• Paste a ribbon on which you had written “Merry Christmas.”
• Paste the small circle above the ribbon.
• Paint a face on the small circle.
• Glue a couple of buttons on the middle circle.
• Open up your card and write the heartwarming message to the one you love.
